1. Tell me about who you are and the work you do.
My name is Kemi Olawoye and I am the CEO/Founder of Genuine Health Africa, a health communications company focused on providing public relations services to health and wellness organizations. Our vision is to be the leading health communications company at the forefront of improving health outcomes in West Africa. I am also the co-host of Health Vibes, a 45-minute health show on Silverbird’s radio, Rhythm 93.7fm that addresses local and trending health issues in a fun and educative way.My work was borne out of my desire to address the problem of health literacy and health-seeking behaviors among Nigerians.
2. What is the most challenging and rewarding aspect of your work?
The most challenging certainly has to be constantly finding creative ways to communicate health to the layman. We know that if not well crafted, health might not be as appealing to the regular person as entertainment, business, and other interests. The most rewarding aspects are the messages and feedback I get from people about my radio show, campaigns, events, outreaches and more
3. What is your purpose and how are you using your career/business to fulfill it?
My purpose is to inspire people on their life journey by being the best version of myself. At GHA, our work is impact driven and one of the ways we achieve this is through our community outreaches to disadvantaged communities to provide free medical checkup, assessment and education. These outreaches allow for early detection and prevention of disease as well as prompt intervention in the form of referrals to healthcare institutions when needed. Through these outreaches, we have been able to reach over 1000people in the Mushin, Surulere and Oniru communities. We have one coming up this Easter and would be going to three different communities in Agege, Victoria Island and Ibadan.
4. How did you discover your purpose and what steps do you take to continuously operate in it?
To be honest, I think purpose is a journey. To continuously operate in it, I ensure per time that I am working on the assignment for that season and what I have found is that each assignment contributes to your purpose.
5. What does the future look like for you?
I see bigger and more mind-blowing things. Global impact, Cross-continent business expansion, Millions of lives touched and so much more.
