Celebrating Women Around the Globe

” Here’s to strong women – may we know them, may we be them, and may we raise them.” – Anonymous

Every year in the month of March, women are celebrated around the world for our existence, impact, and bravery to travel through this world.

Women are powerful and have been through a lot to make it to where we are right now. No role of a woman should be undermined whether she is a CEO of a Fortune 500 company or a mother of five children.

Unfortunately, society has a caste system that ranks the roles of women as significant or insignificant. The hope is that women around the world are encouraged to continue making an impact through simple acts of kindness. These acts don’t always have to be recognized on a large scale. It takes one bold act to lighten up people’s lives and give them hope.

Another thing the world has unconsciously done is to undermine the strength of a woman. A woman’s strength is unmatched and should not be taken for granted. At the same time, women should recognize to be strong doesn’t mean to be in control of everything situation. It is okay to be clueless for a moment or not know how to tackle a situation. Our resumes don’t have to be perfect to get that competitive job and we don’t need to check all the boxes before we consider if we are worthy of a promotion. We need to learn to encourage ourselves and resist us a little more.

The goal of a woman is to impact lives beyond her imagination and every day there are millions of women achieving this goal. Check out the World’s Most Powerful Women to learn about some of the stories of these women.

Beyond celebrating women, it is a call of action for both men and women to rise up to the challenge to live a full life that includes changemaking. Our world needs our skillsets and knowledge to make a difference, and we cannot keep waiting on others to rise. We need to rise ourselves.
